Yoga and Me

When I started practicing yoga in 1981 my body was weak and exceptionally inflexible. It was in 2003 when I began yoga teacher training with Pauline Sawyer of the Inner Yoga Trust; graduating in 2007.

Since 2003 I have been attending as many workshops as I can with like-minded teachers, all of whom have been motivated by the teachings of the late Vanda Scaravelli*

I continue to evolve through my practice and I am privileged to have Sophy Hoare, Gary Carter, Pete Blackaby and Diane Long as my teachers all of whom further develop my understanding of awakening the spine.

I teach and practice yoga by coming into the body rather than extending away from it. This releases tension in the muscles so that I am able to unwind into a relaxed position and have a feeling of completeness.

This is achieved mainly by taking an interest in what is happening to our bodies.

I passionately believe yoga to be curative, if only because I have seen in myself a completely different body; a stronger, toned and unravelled body as a result of my daily practice; a body no longer inflexible and unyielding.
